This was a refreshing look at undeath, saints, and nuns in a world that has similarities to ours but still feels unique. The books themes of faith, fear and underlying assumptions were delivered from an interesting protagonist that isn't your average hero. The protagonist grows, along with other side characters, into someone who understands taking things at face value is rarely an accurate way to judge something, even if it's something you thought you knew your whole life.

The book has elements of fantasy and horror, though unlike her other two books has very little in terms of romance. Instead of romance we explore friendship and self growth.

Another fantastic book by this author. I've been solidified into a dedicated fan.
