man what
I get the idea here, but it’s quite possibly one of the worst comics I’ve ever read — pretentious and incomprehensible is a devastating combo. Etrigan the Rhyming Demon as a drill rapper is one of the wildest things I’ve ever seen lol.

The incredible artwork helps distract from the fact there is little to no plot to be found
Make no mistake: This is not a conventional Batman book. This is actually a John Constantine lecture on philosophy with a Batman story playing in the background. It is also a Justice League Dark book, although they aren't really a league; rather, the characters just pop up randomly in the story.
In short, it's an okay story propped up by a cool cast and brilliant artwork! 3/5

Apparently I'm in the minority on this one. This may be the 2nd Batman comic I've read, I've never seen the movies (not a damn one, unless you count Batman v Superman but I don't because...well, that doesn't need an explanation), and I don't know who half of the characters in this were. Maybe it's because I don't have the background knowledge and pre-conceieved ideas as to what this should be is why I enjoyed it so much. I loved the tone, I loved the art (the ARRRRTTTTTT <3), and that juicy Bruce booty. The story was fun also. The art and dark tone really made this for me though.

Overall a good story. It suffers from a typical issue with Batman one shot/limited series however, where they try to squeeze in too many characters. They all seem to fit the story, but the story could’ve also worked without them
The plot was seriously lacking for me, but the art, style, and execution is some of my favorite I’ve seen in a comic. Wish the story was more fleshed out and went somewhere, otherwise this would’ve been perfect

The art was gorgeous the story was not great, it wasn't super coherent and hinted at some interesting themes that have been done way more subtlety and more fleshed out elsewhere. Wouldn't really recommend, except to appreciate the incredible art!
