This one was absolute GARBAGE. Are we not going to discuss the fact that the reason her family’s house burned to the ground is because, true to character, Kirsten disobeyed very stern orders from her mother regarding the wild animal she caught?
And instead of being scolded or taught (she was old enough to know better, we spent lots of time in the coming of age era two books ago), everyone oscillates between crying that their stuff is gone, and looking for the silver lining.
Thank goodness Old Jack died, a completely unrelated side plot that ended up saving them all. And Kirsten can continue doing things her way, risking the lives of everyone involved, and not seeing the consequences. Heaven forbid I descended from this child *covers face*. Worst American girl, hands down.

This progressed a little to quickly gor me. I have liked these stories the best so far on my journey though history with the American girl books.
