I will forever be impressed at Hosseini's ability to always produce a seemingly flawless novel. Just as heartbreaking as this book is, there is so much beauty, not only in the language but the intricacies of the story. He weaves many generations and characters who play a role in the story together with incredible power, illuminating not only universal themes but important Afghan history and culture. The one flaw I found in this text is that because there are so many characters across many generations and parts of the plot who are introduced, when a new chapter starts, it takes a minute to discern who the characters in it are and their connection to the other characters with whom readers are familiar. You are, however, able to eventually do it and the end of the novel neatly intertwines them all. I highly recommend this novel along with every other book written by Hosseini as I cannot imagine him falling short.
