3.5! I really liked the premise of this book, and the first half definitely hooked me, but I fear we lost the plot a little bit in Part 2. The ending finished super strong though, so overall had a dece experience. Wish there was more focus on Frankie’s female friendships than her love life T B H.

I was surprised to enjoy this book after being a long-time hater of  history/ wars. I typically find American historical fiction to be dry and miserable to read bc I get ptsd of APUSH. BUT the relatable, gritty female perspective of this book made me be like…wait, can I actually like history, if it’s not told by men?
