I liked this book. I read it in bits and pieces even though it’s short. It had good messages throughout that captured a lot of the human experience. It’s written in a simple way that to me is still poetic. My qualms are that a lot of the points were a bit obvious, so there was nothing that had me react like “oh wow.” But it’s still nice to read about things you know in a sweet story like this.

I first read this book in either middle or high school. I had been going through a phase of being obsessed with stories about alchemy and picked up just about every book that had the word alchemist on it. This one I found at the flea market and its still the only copy I've read from. Every time I re-read this book, I somehow have completely forgotten the story and get to discover it again and again. I can't ready say how many times I've read it or why I love it so much but I'm very glad to have the chance to discover it countless times because of my poor memory. Its an absolutely wonderful book to start the year with.

2.5/5 stars | i'll listen to this book and follow my heart, and my heart is saying this book is very overhyped. its essentially a self help book but disguised as a fictional story. it started off enthralling and i wanted to see what happens but by the end it was just so repetitive. idk, maybe if i read this when i was a teenager it would be more impactful but reading this now it was just meh.

This, unfortunately, found the wrong audience in me.
