I just couldn't get into this! I loved Okorafor's other book, Who Fears Death, but these stories didn't pull me in as that one did. I liked Okwu the most and enjoyed the book most every time it joined the narrative. I was fascinated with the Meduse in general. This one just didn't do it for me. I will still check out Okorafor's Akata Witch because I do enjoy her writing which is the biggest reason why I gave this trilogy 2 stars instead of 1. I also appreciated the way Okorafor wrote Binti's PTSD; she was actively being treated for it instead of constantly suffering with no help which is what usually happens to protagonists in science fiction and fantasy simply because of the parameters of the story as well as its world's resources. It still affected her, though--that's another reason this trilogy is 2 stars instead of 1.

I was reading this one for school and now it’s been too long since I picked it up so I’ve put it down for now. Definitely a 5 star read, the book is genuinely incredible with its idea of futurisms but it’s been too long and I’d have to restart it to finish it

Fun premise. Pretty uneven pacing. Some genuinely horrific tragedies unfold which shocked me.
