If I could give this 6 stars I would. Such an incredible and beautiful memoir about a culture many have sanitized. As a Jamaican who is not connected to my culture as deeply as Safiya, I was drawn to books that might shed even a little light. Her book did so and more. I am grateful that she chose to tell her story and the way she chose to will forever stick with me.
