For the first time in a long time I was absorbed in a book. I didn’t realize until about halfway through that this was a true story. I clued in by the strength of the writing and the story - it was too personal to be made up. I really did know very little about what it meant to be a Rastafarian. As a woman, I love a story of resilience and perseverance and hope for the future. I wish she hadn’t experienced so much oppression. I’m sure this writer is a role model for many. And wow - such a talented writer, and poet. As much as I hate to continue to read about violence against women - telling these stories is the only way to turn the tide of change.

I wish I had read this instead of listening to it.
