This book was a lot of fun! It was quick and an easy summer read. Stephanie Plum is likable, and is a funny and entertaining main character.

Picked up this book because someone at a book store raved about it and the series overall. Started it to just have something to listen to in the background and was immediately turned off by the way the author talked about the neighborhood to avoid incest or whatever and how nonchalant rape at 6 years old was talked about. Very freaking weird. No need to keep going after that in my mind.

No, there's not much depth to the plot, or to the characters. Yes, this book is a fun, light read. The plot moves along at a good pace, the writing style is casual and fun, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

It's like a good action movie--enough twists in the plot to keep it interesting, some good laughs along the way, and some decent action sequences. What I found most believable were Stephanie's constant blunders, and her bullheaded determination to finish what she started. There might not be much to her character, but the girl's got guts, and it's fun to hang out with her for awhile.

Overall, I'm happy I read it. It's not typically one I would pick up, so I'm glad a trusted friend recommended it. And I wouldn't mind reading more in the series.

It slightly dragged, there seemed to be a lot of filler, I am going to read the second one to see if it picks up any

did. not. like.

Specifically, I dislike rape or the threat of rape as a plot point in any book. If it hadn't been for my squeamishness on that particular detail, I probably would have given the book three stars.
