Decent book. It’s a quick read and a standalone. I’d probably say more of a 2.5 ⭐️read for me but I’m rounding up. I just can’t give it more because it felt like it wanted to be a different story. I went into this read blind and at first I thought it might end up being a paranormal within the first chapter or so, but it wasn’t. I also had issues with the ages. I felt as though I was reading a book about high schoolers but then it turns out they were in college? And seems like they were in their 20s if I’m comprehending correctly. The guys came into the FMCs life when they move into her house after their mom/stepmom married fmcs dad and the mom talked about how they are homeschooled and fmc would be as well. Like it was just weird reading how these college aged adults were allowing their mom to treat them, especially the ones that were her step kids. Like grow up and move on. That’s what gave me paranormal vibes as well. I thought maybe she had some kid of power hold over them. Nope. Just weird. I think it should have been a high school setting and it’d have read better. I’m guessing that because of the content the characters were aged up, but in doing that it just gave the book an odd vibe. So yeah, I think it has potential to be a better story but as is, it’s just a decent read.

Okay so ummm WOW. I definitely needed a cold shower after that. There is legit no shortage of steamy scenes amongst this group. This is a fairytale retelling and holy balls color me impressed! Ember sadly loses her mom and when her dad remarries to Botox mommy he unfortunately exits the game of life. She has her four step brothers to help pick up the pieces however step mommy dearest has other plans. Now I will say this was ADDICTING! Did I stay up until 2am knowing I had to be up early for work? Yes. Did I decide I would live on coffee all during work? Also yes. Did I regret any of it? Absolutely not!! Now I need to go back and read all the other books of this new to me author because good lord I need so much more.
