So many twists and turns!!! Lovely, even if the ending is a bit like a fix-it fanfic

Here it is, the final Dune.
I'd like to thank the Academy for this honour of finally finishing this big boy of a series. I'd also like to thank my mother. Without you listening to my rants, I probably would have DNFed Dune at book 1.
I'm uming and ahing at what star rating to give this. Since it's a Dune, you can tell that again it went back down into bad quality. However, those epilogues were perfect and I felt satisfied.
Do I recommend Dune? No. Go watch a sand show or something if you want some sand content. The further it continued, the more I wanted to grab a pillow and scream. Save yourself the trouble of reading this - unless you truly want to inflict this pain on yourself then go ahead, be my guest.

This is the first book of the Dune saga originated by Frank Herbert written by his son Brian Herbert. It was noted that this book was written based on an outline created by Frank. While I could definitely feel a subtle shift in the writing, it remains true to the spirit of the series.
This book picks up years after the last book with a number of important historical figures from the beginning of the series brought back as gholas. The chronological order is disrupted, with parents and children the same age or reversed in order, creating a unique exploration of what these relationships mean.
Much is explained about the Honored Madre invasion and the fate of human kind is uncertain as the thinking machines, back from near extinction, are making a move to subvert humanity. We are taken on an unexpected journey through history, fate and consciousness that ends in the evolution of the inhabitants of Herbert’s universe.

Having reached the climactic end of the Dune story, I can at least see how we've come from point A and arrived at point Z - but having arrived at Z, all I can say is, "so what?". In the hands of better writers (like FH) the end could have been something magical and amazing.
