I had high expectations for this book because I loved Anna Dressed in Blood. I wasn't even half way done with it and I couldn't stand Cas. He was super whiny in this book about Anna going to hell and wouldn't stop about it. I can stand a little whinnying but his was nonstop and such a total change from the 1st book. In the first book he was kind of cocky, strong and confident and this book I didn't like him at all.
I couldn't find a third book in this series so I'm not sure if there is going to be one or not. I would probably read it even if this was not the last one.

I really REALLY liked the first book, but for some reason this sequel just lost steam for me about halfway through.
I ran through it like a train until 84% completion (hoping for something 'more' to happen...), and then.... I left it for half a year until I couldn't stand leaving it unfinished anymore.
The plot is quite well written as usual (thank you Kendare Blake!), but the characters are somewhat lackluster from what they were in the first book.
And when they started off on their quest to the mysterious secret society, I was feeling more 'meh' than I should...
I feel quite guilty for it, as it's still a great story but I couldn't get myself to like it nearly as much as the previous one.
That being said, the final battle (while quite short and frankly a lot faster and easier than I would've thought) was VERY good.
And then the ending rolls around and I'm back in the 'meh, good for them now let's go' feeling.
I really wanted to like this sequel as much as I did the original. I REALLY did. But it just didn't do it for me. Nevertheless it deserves a solid 3 stars!

Might write a bit more when I am back from vacation.
I can say this though, it was a good book, maybe not as good as the first book though.
The ending was pretty good and conclusive, though I kind of hope to read more about Anna or the main character, I think there isn't much to say.
I loved our side characters especially Thomas, he was really awesome in this book and his character has really improved since we saw him first in the first book.
There was a great deal of details and fun things to read about. And of course I was rooting for our main character and Anna, they are such a good and fitting couple. :)

I've just enjoyed this series so much. The paranormal elements that Blake mixed with her story really pulled me in and left me wanting more. Girl of Nightmares was just as beautifully written, creepy, and consuming as the first book.
Blake created a wonderful world filled with ghosts, ghouls, and magic. Her story was beautifully told that left a chill creeping up my spin. Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down!
The only thing that deterred me was that I couldn’t remember a few events from the first book. So going in was a bit overwhelming, at first, but once I got a few chapters in things did slowly start coming back to me.
I still feel like Cas is the perfect male POV to read from. I just enjoy being inside his head so much. He wasn’t as cocky as he was in the first book, he felt more level headed, more sure of himself in ways. Though he is battling with more emotional events, I could feel that he has matured since the first book. I just adore him, quite honestly. And being inside his head while he did whatever he could to save Anna was an enjoyable experience.
Carmel and Thomas are some of the greatest side characters I have ever encountered. I just adored them as well. I loved that Thomas supported Cas no matter what. And though Carmel did have a bit of a stumble, in the end she really turned out to be another great friend to Cas. I loved that Blake added such strong friendships in her book.
This definitely is not your typical love story. And I loved that about this series. It shows a different kind of love. Anna, being a dead girl, is not your typical love interest, but she is a strong character and she, once again, proves herself in the end. I enjoyed her because of what she went through and despite it all she was a good person, dead or not. She is smart and selfless.
I just love the creepy, paranormal world that Blake created. It was refreshing and unique. I adored the main character, loved the side characters, and just couldn’t get enough of the not-so-typical love interest. Girl of Nightmares was a wonderful read!

I think this was a great follow up to the first book.
It definitely has a lot more weight than the first book, because it covers having to cross over to the other side to try and save Anna.
One thing I like about this book is that it jumps straight to the story. There isn't a lot of unneccessary introductions and so you really get drawn in immediately. However, in the beginning it did develop a little slow. There was a lot of repetition with Cas' hallucinations or visions (whatever you want to call them) of Anna.
The characters were also a little less memorable in this book. I guess they were just really well-developed in the first book so there wasn't really much going for them now.
One thing I'm not really happy about is how the author saves all the action in the last few chapters. I mean literally almost everything happens right at the 2nd-to-the-last chapter. That doesn't leave much time for the book to get a proper closure. I'm still left a little hanging the way I was with the first book. :(

Girl of Nightmares is a really good sequel. I'm always nervous when books aren't really in a series, but a sequel is written after what I thought was a good ending. This book definitely didn't feel like an add-on. Cas's desire to help Anna and the tensions that arise because of that feel like a natural progression from Anna Dressed in Blood. (There isn't as much action as the first book, because there's a lot of build-up to do before Cas can figure out what to do and how. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely is different from book one.)
I will admit that I felt pretty afraid about the ending, because I couldn't really think of a good way for it to end. But Kendare Blake surprised me and crafted the perfect ending. The end is satisfying and fitting.
I can't recommend Anna Dressed in Blood enough, and I absolutely enjoyed the sequel, Girl of Nightmares

This part was easier to read then the first book, which was a disaster because it was translated.
Ca behaves like he's older then Thomas by centuries. And he doesn't listen to much, and that was one of my problems with him. If you search for a phrase 'with half of my ear' it would be numerous.
These are the sentences that made me chuckle:

It took 25 chapters for Cas and the crew to start looking for Anna. And it ended miserably, but well. It's healthy to grow some new love interests.
Also, there is a Suicide Forest and it is in Japan, not in Scotlandish area.

So Girl of Nightmares wasn't as good as the first book. I found that I wasn't a big fan of Cas in this book because I seriously cannot justify the amount of stupidity he has, especially since most of the plotline revolves around his stubborn decision-making. However, I'm going to bump this book up to 4 stars because the end scenes were awesome and also, BAD-ASS ANNA IS THE BEST.
