DID NOT FINISH: 3%

Read a few pages and it didn't grip me as much as I was hoping, so I skipped through and skimmed a few sections throughout, especially toward the end. It feels very "cis-het gated community with a lot of casual alcoholism". The vibe I got for the plot was that things would happen around the house that only the woman main character would notice, she would discover clues and try to solve a murder (s); and her partner would not believe her/gaslight her/insist she let it go. Then she would figure out the clues and almost be murdered, but make it through in the end.

Fast paced ending but a bit slow throughout
challenging dark emotional mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Wow, it's been a long time since a book sucked me in like that. It only took me a few hours to read. It was a good mystery - not a lot actually happened, but I couldn't put it down.

I don't think there was any language, no bedroom stuff, and nothing overly graphic.

A hard 3 stars. A quick read that slows down a bit. It does pick back up. Alice’s behavior did annoy me, but it eventually made sense. That is all.

B.A. Paris never lets me down, another great read.
