Why do I keep reading these popular books that drive me nuts? This slow burner is basically about a bored woman who has too much time on her hands. She stresses about getting along with the women in her neighborhood and is too nosy and obsessed with her neighbors. By the time the crime happened, I didn't care too much.

The insufferable main character is oblivious to all the red flags, so much so it is obnoxious. But even the author seems oblivious to red flags. SPOILER ahead:
so Leo fakes a whole identity to cover the fact he had been in jail and lies and lies and lies about who he is. But EVERYONE sees this as an issue bc he was in jail. The main character cant handle it bc she wanted to be jailed to be punished for a crime. The friends see it an as issue bc he was a criminal and had been jailed. No one seems to realize that this unhinged behavior is mainly problematic bc he literally lived a lie for years. He lied about his whole identity to his partner. That is so f-ed up. I mean its mentioned that he is a liar and that sucked but he FAKED his identity and no one seemed upset enough about that. Also the stereotype white people/gated suburb/ wine & yoga setting is off putting and tiresome.

Keeps you hooked from the beginning. Definitely more of a mystery than thriller even if the end gets a bit craaazy. I’d recommend it to those getting into mystery/thrill, like myself. The plot definitely thickens in this one and had me in shock at the end even though I did feel the same way in the beginning lol.
