FMC (Maureen): 3.25 (pretty bland - her only personality trait was liking to cook. Also, she couldn’t hold out from Henry for more than 1 hour…)
MMC (Henry): 4 (swoony spy who threatens all her suitors and protects her from everything, even himself - also a lying liar who lies)
💕: 4.5 (honestly they vibed hard. true bff vibes but also couldn’t keep their hands off each other)
Plot: 2.5 (boooring - skimmed all the spy/“Investor” drama)
🌶️: 4 🥵 (he lurves her)
Writing: 3.5

No strong representation of diverse characters or minority identities.

Safety Rating: Safe with Exceptions
• No cheating
• No OW drama
- Hero hasn't been with a woman since he met the Heroine 2+ years ago
• Does have OM drama
- the Hero rejected the Heroine at the start of their friendship to protect her, so the Heroine has moved on to find herself a husband.
- The OM is an Earl and wants to marry the Heroine. They kiss and the Heroine enjoys it; she would've married the OM if the Hero hadn't made his feelings known. But, she recognized that while she liked and would've had a good marriage with the OM, her feelings never compared to what she felt with the Hero.
• Does have the Hero pushing the Heroine away
• No separation

Possible Triggers: Yes

• Knife violence
• Murder
• PTSD and grief from the Hero's father being murdered in front of him as a boy
• Classism
• Sexism

Ending:
HEA

Maureen and Henry

Idk Henry was so annoying. Maureen was too perfect. The big bad was Bigger and Badder but had absolutely no pay off (a short explanation and not a very good one at that, let alone poor motivation imo)

Best part was Regina her maid 🥺 I want her story!

This was a very strong 4 star read. I really enjoyed this couple and the resolution of the mystery of the investor. Some nice steamy scenes and introduction of more characters to explore. This series is moving along nicely!

3.75 stars. This series really has ups and downs, I seem to like every other book enough to bother possibly re-reading again some day. I was worried the female lead in this was gonna be boring but she wound up being interesting and stronger than I expected in the end.

I had to DNF this which was annoying as I got about 5 hours in and I hate not finishing books but I have over 4 hours left and I was so bored.
