Just not for me. I wanted to like it and tried hard. But I just stayed confused.

Well, I think I have given this series more than its fair share of chances. The first book was better upon re-reading but this book I should have trusted my earlier self on. Too much dream-storytelling, not enough exposition and then suddenly too much. There were so many incidental characters that everything was a muddle and I pretty much forgot any continuing threads of storylines. I really couldn't tell you what happened.

Will probably return to this series at some point, I’m just a  big mood reader and I’m in the mood for something else right now

This book had a more epic story than book 1, it feels like we're really getting into a fantasy world now. The writing style is very lyrical and poetic. A lot of the story seems very random to me and the connections between things are pretty vague to my mind (magic just lets them do random things, but it feels like there's little explanation or logic to any of it), but that's my analytical mind being too picky, I guess: my kids and my wife all love it, this series has them hooked more than anything we've read for awhile. Definitely a family favorite.

This book missed the mark for me. There were too many competing plots, sub-plots, and characters. The idea behind it had a lot of potential, but the execution was very muddled. I'm not sure whether I will pick up the last book in the series or not.

Great book. I liked it even better than the first. Can't wait to see what happens in the next one. The ending was a little vague but I think that was done to leave things open for the next book.

Despite spending most of the book annoyed at Henrietta, it was fun to see how the story is developing. There were a few scenes that were a bit confusing and I didn't completely follow them, but it wasn't that big of a deal. All in all, I enjoyed it and am excited to read the next book!
