2nd time read -
I’m so happy I read this again! It was an absolute delight and listening to it this time just made it that much better. Emma will always be one of my favorite Austen heroines. She’s so clever and confident but truly finds her most humble self when she realizes she might not be so clever after all. And I just love how Mr. Knightly loves her quick wit and how he always wants to talk to her because of her mind. Ah! I just love it. Might be a full Jane Austen re-read kind of year.

Pues lo recordaba más lindo de lo que realmente era, quizá solo tenía presente la película del 2020. Aun así, vale mucho la pena, Jane Austen no decepciona.
Second DNF of Emma. I want to push through because I've enjoyed what I've read and I'm about halfway through, but it'll have to be another time

Got 150 pages in a few years ago and abandoned it, but very glad I decided to give it another go. It is a very funny book and, though I'm still not entirely convinced by Emma herself, I do love the characters and how everyone in Highbury is so connected to one another. Really enjoyed the sudden switch to Mr Knightley's perspective for a whole chapter with the alphabet incident and catching all the hints of romance that, having seen the 2020 film many times, I was already aware of. Dropping a star for how much of a snob Emma is for most of the book (I did get very frustrated on multiple occasions) but an enjoyable read overall and I did really like it. Also appreciated how much of Emma's thought process you did get to see.
Wow so this took me nearly 3 months. That is humbling.
Shoutout Professor Parker for recommending this book. It’s truly remarkable how little the ways of gossip and love have changed so little from Austen’s time to now. So many little scenarios depicted were situations I have seen in my own life and the lives of my peers :) Emma + Mr. Knightley forever!!!
Excited to start a new, more modern book. Stay tuned.
