Petta has lived for thirty years with a secret – what really happened to her best friend, Megan, when they were fourteen. But now, an anonymous author has written a bestselling book fictionalizing the tragedy – using Petta’s real name, and naming her as the one responsible, in both the events of the book and the sinister dedication at the beginning: “I know what you did, Petal Woznewski. And now everyone else will, too.” It seems obvious that someone’s trying to get her attention. But who really wrote the book?

This thriller is fast-paced, with a flawed but likeable main character, but it let me down in the end. I wasn’t all that surprised by the big reveal of who the author was, and the final confrontation devolved into an interaction that, in my opinion, bordered on silly. Everything up until that scene was great, though. I really liked Petta, prickly as she was. Except for the end, I thought it was pretty skillfully written, so I’d probably read this author again in hopes that the next one turns out better.

Representation: fat MC (or at least she describes herself that way)

I received an advance copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

When Petta starts hearing about a best selling book with the main character sharing her unique name she tries to disengage herself. As the book seems to be haunting her she reluctantly starts to read. The similarities to her high school days have her questioning who wrote the book, and why.

This was a twisty suspenseful book that had me guessing the whole time! While I enjoyed the book I felt like it was missing something and that the suspect list was short. I did love the surprise ending to the book within this book “No one suspected”. This read kept me on my toes.

Thank you NetGalley for the early access in return of an honest review!

With a name like Petal Woznewski, there are no name coincidences. So when she hears about a book that has a character with that name it perks her interest. Even weirder? The book’s plot is eerily similar to the story of her childhood friend’s death - only it accuses Petal of murder.

I have some mixed feelings. On one hand, I think the mystery / thriller part was fun and unique and interesting, albeit a little half baked. on the other hand, I felt like this book tried to be more than just a fun thriller, and at that it fell flat for me.

During an appointment Petta's gynecologist yammers on about a new thriller called No One Suspected by ME Littleton and mentions she should read it as it contained her unusual name. Disturbed, Petta left the office and after obtaining a book she read inside, "I know what you did, Petal Woznewski". Chills and nausea enveloped her. Who knew her high school secrets and hated her enough to spill them? Just who is ME Littleton?

Petta takes time off work and returns to her Wisconsin high school town to dig for answers. She talks to an old friend and others she knew from school days. Of her two best friends Jenny and Megan one has died and the other untraceable. Meanwhile, her closest friend Gus is concerned about her leaving town. Though she treats him abominably he is loyal. And then police get involved as things get dangerous and the layers are exposed.

The air is thick with suspense and tension as Petta desperately searches. I practically felt the anxiety.

Thriller readers, this one is well worth reading. Though Petta is very unlikable and immature the story is gripping, packed with red herrings and somewhat dark and brimming with angst.

My sincere thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for providing me with an early digital copy of this engrossing book.

Petal Wosnewski is a bit of a loner. Most of her time is spent trying to forget her past. She grew up in Wisconsin and now, in the present is in New York City. Petta is shaken when she find out that a new bestselling novel which has  a very similar story to her traumatic adolescence back in Madison, but also the protagonist shares Petals exact name. She sets out to try and find who is digging up her darkest secret. Could it be the person that swore to take that secret to the grave with...or someone else who may know their secret?

As a debut novel I was really thrilled1 I loved the structure of the chapters being mainly the narrator, with some excerpts from the book-within-the-book. Perfect!  Overall, I definitely enjoyed this fun thriller and would recommend it to my thriller genre loving friends.  I rated this 4 stars.
