was very put off by the main character - i don't dislike agressive characters but she lacked the softer side i need in agressive characters and i generally felt like the feminist themes of the book could have been done better

I wish I was 15 again to read this. The action stopped overshadowing the lack of finesse in the writing.

I have no idea what I just read. Is this Pacific Rim fanfic? This book lacks solid world building, interesting characters, and good dialogue. There was so much promise here but falls short. This book is shocking underwhelming and overly simplistic.

Every person, man or woman, should read this book. There is a tag-line review on the cover “A primal scream of a book” that I think actually sums it up really well. A commentary on gender roles, sexuality, and relationship dynamics easily woven into an incredibly entertaining sci-if/fantasy story about giant mechs. Probably my favorite read of the year and definitely near the top of my favorite books ever list.
