Wow! This was my first book by Melissa. I can’t rave about this enough. The emotions I felt in this were so raw and real. I can’t wait for next one!

Age gap is fine. Some "taboo relationships" are fine.... But age gaps when its your best friends mom... and you were also practically raised in the same house? Thats a hard no. I started this one without double checking the synopsis and it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. But I made it in about 3 hrs and now im raising the white flag and saying this just isn't for me. I love me some age gaps, but I need the youngest to be an adult... and not be in a child like situation with their partner any time before hand...

Ok this book just kept going on and on and on. I kept thinking it was over only to be like sike you still have 200 pages left. The only reason this book gets a 2 stars and not zero is because the wlw spicy scenes were top notch. The two main characters were whiny and childish and had the same issues 10+ times. Also the amount of miscommunication in this book floored me like how can you both be so stubborn and dense. Anyway I was quite disappointed 😔 as a lesbian looking for a good sapphic romance book. I wouldn’t recommend this and will not be reading the rest of the series.
Graphic: Sexual content
Minor: Bullying, Child abuse, Abandonment
the stars are only for the steamy sexy scenes, other than that, it’s… something
Unfortunately, this one just didn’t do it for me.
The premise was interesting, but I never rlly connected to either main character, and I found their dynamic… fine, if a bit frustrating. They just continually had the same conversation over and over again for like… a third of the book. “I’m in love with you, have been for years, you’re my whole life, but of course you don’t feel the same abt me” aaannnnd then the other one says BASICALLY THE SAME THING and then rinse repeat. And, if I had connected to either character and their dynamic then I could have gotten over the fact the the writing style felt a little off, awkward and slightly juvenile to me, but bc I WASNT connecting with anything, that felt more glaring to me, too. Which I always hate to say, bc it makes me feel like a snob, but there was a lot of dialogue (both actual, and inner monologue stuff) that just… did not feel at all how ppl actually talk to each other. I feel bad saying it but a lot of it felt off or cringy or slightly cheesy.
I’ll give this author another shot, but this one wasn’t it, for me.
