The Best of Me

I love him for real. Some of these are clearly dated, but the essay where he tries to explain Easter in French had me crying actual tears on the subway
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted reflective relaxing fast-paced

David Sedaris, as alway, is wrong in all the right ways.
challenging dark funny reflective medium-paced

I am a huge fan of David Sedaris and this did not disappoint. I have been fortunate enough to see him several times and had heard several of the pieces at that time, so I had the added bonus of ‘hearing’ them in his voice as I read them!!

Don't read - you gotta listen to David Sedaris books. I haven't listened to every one of his books, so there were new stories for me here, but there were also some of my favorites from previous books. So funny and tragic and relatable. It ends with an interview and he talks about how people reacted to his fables and yeah - same. Please don't try that again. But otherwise keep the stories coming.

I’m always gonna like a David Sedaris audiobook. It’s just how it goes

I know some of these stories by heart, and still read that best of with great pleasure. Reading his books feels like catching up with an old friend.

Loved this book! funny , heart breaking and everything in between.

It's always sad to finish a book by David Sedaris! This book is a collection of some of his best essays and stories and, while not all of my personal favorites were present, it was a reminder of Sedaris' incredible strength as a writer. As always, I recommend the audiobook version of this book. Sedaris is as a good a narrator as he is a writer. Check it out.
