This book was phenomenal! A slow-burn horror, I can’t wait for book 2. The deaths packed a gut punch and the protagonists were completely lovable and interesting, with amazing chemistry. Epistolary elements including interview transcripts and journal entries, are sprinkled through the narrative, working non-chronologically from the main text, leading to a fascinating mystery to unravel. It’s terrifying but definitely readable for younger teens who like horror, as it’s not overly graphic or gory, mostly body horror with people turning into coral-covered zombies.

Disclaimer I received an e-ARC off Edelweiss from Scholastic, and receive no compensation beyond the joy of reading this early, and this is my honest review! Thank you so much to Scholastic!
