I REALLY wanted to love this book. The premise is original, which could have made this an incredible book. It lacked the details that pull you into the story or make you think about the characters after you’ve finished.
It’s a really quick read - I read 5 chapters on 2/19 and the rest today.

Asylum? Ooooohhh. Confessions? Ahhhhhhh.
If only the story could have been as intriguing as the title.
It took me months to get through this book, because I kept forgetting about it. If it hadn't been haunting me in my "Currently Reading" list on this app, there is no way I would have finished it. I had this one on my kindle and audio. Both versions were just boring to me.

I had a hard time rating this book. Whilst I liked the premise and the setting, I couldn't care less for some of the stories, but I especially loved one.
I listened to the audiobook and I have to say that the narrator was very believable, and one of the reasons I enjoyed the stories overall. What also made me realise I liked this read was Bucket's confession. I mean, that has to be one of the most heartbreaking stories of all time. My stomach was in knots throughout her confession, and I still can't get her out of my head. I wonder how many Buckets are in the world.
I must say I also enjoyed the last one, the story of the nanny, as it touches on some topics I often wonder about. Although her means were not acceptable, I can't say I disagree with her reasoning, and I share her beliefs on the matter (you'll know what I mean if you read it).
If you like serial killer stories or an asylum setting, then this is for you!
As always, this is my honest opinion.

enjoyable listen. If I can find the others through my library I will continue with the series.
This was really fascinating and I’d definitely listen to more. But fair warning the stories are pretty horrid so proceed with caution but I always find asylums fascinating. But I swear to god, if I have to hear him say find where I work, meet at the bar, and we can have a drink one more fucking time….
Loved this collection, and had to go on to book two. An interesting style, could use a little polishing through editing (which would bump it to five stars), but overall it's pretty fascinating. I'm not sure if I like the narrator, but I can appreciate him. I'd love to know more of his story, honestly. Honestly, I have to admit I still enjoy reading the stories of the patients he shares. Easy to fly through each story, and I was a little surprised when I arrived at the end of the book, because I just didn't want to put it down. Can't wait to see what's in store in book 2, family edition!
