ho.ly. sh$t.
The only thing I knew going in was heist, but damn, did this deliver all that and more!
I can see now why many people prefer the Six of Crows duology over the original trilogy. I was far more attached to this cast—their pasts, perspectives, and potential—and found this story to be much more busy, and for the better. One of my main gripes (but also loves, lol, the paradox) with the original Grisha trilogy is that over three books, it felt like very little actually happened, you know? The pace was slower, there was a heavy focus on internal and emotional characterization, and overall, while things DID technically happen, the major plot points were few and very far between. But with Six of Crows, it felt like one blow after another, the moments of reprieve sparse and therefore precious—much more suited to my taste as a reader. Overall, I am obsessed. I'm literally starting Crooked Kingdom after I post this review haha.
I. am. ready.
