The plot starts slowly by introducing each character and the city of Ketterdam while establishing the relationship between the city and the Grisha universe. The story is told through the POV of five of the six crew members who carry out the rescue/heist. Although, upon rereading, I understood what might have led the author not to include Wylan's (also known as "the warranty") perspective in this first book, I believe it could have sometimes enriched the narrative.

Once the heist begins, the story gains a better pace, with events aligning perfectly and shaping a plan whose intricacies we gradually become familiar with. Six of Crows is an exciting read, with characters we may not identify with right away but for whom we end up rooting wholeheartedly.

Somewhere between fantasy and action, without forgetting subplots of romance, chosen family and second chances, this book definitely raises the bar for Leigh Bardugo's writing.

I had to push myself to actually finish reading this book. As an 25+ adult, this YA style just wasn’t for me anymore. Some sentences and ways of describing situations didn’t feel right (wobbly breathing, for example?). Only at the last few chapters I felt like it was finally getting up to speed. Also, as a Dutch reader, the near-Dutch names and places randomly sprinkled through made it annoying to read. It kept throwing me off pace. I won’t be reading the second book.

One of the best books I've ever read. Totally worth the read. It's inclusive, it has some of the most lovable characters, it's funny and if you look enough it's also quite deep.

I absolutely love this book/series! There are so many plot twists, and the characters are, in my opinion, very relatable.

This was so fun to read! Being back in the Grishaverse was a blast, with a new set of characters that are each so intriguing but a as crew absolutely unstoppable. I loved the little hints at characters we've met in the "Shadow & Bone" Trilogy. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, questioning at every turn whether they'll make it or not. I cannot wait to continue with "Crooked Kingdom" to see hiw the Crows' story continues.
