I really enjoyed the book. I would have given it a 5 star rating if it weren't for how Inej treats Kaz's touch aversion towards the end of the book. Personally, I think the budding relationship aspect towards the end wasn't needed, but I understand the appeal. It's just a little bit disappointing as someone who is touch averse to see a character with that problem treated as if they are not enough as a romantic partner because of their boundaries.

I LOVE this. I read the Shadow & Bone trilogy and I'm of the popular opinion that SOC is miles and miles better than S&B. I'll update with a full review when I feel like it

And when you arrive with your repeating rifles and your tanks, when you set upon children and helpless villages, should we not use the weapons we possess?

I want to start out by saying that I don't usually read fantasy but I actually liked this one??
This book grabbed me until the end, the plot was pretty interesting, the characters were relatable (even though sometimes they didn't sound like they were in their teens), also I love love love the found family trope.
Obviously I liked some characters more than others, but all have of the crew holds a special place in my heart. Can you tell that I got emotional attached to them? 😌
