This book was a 5star prediction for me and it completely held up to my high expectations. Exciting heisty plot, great characters, found family vibes, lots of POVs, excellent worldbuilding. And a bit of enemies to lovers in there as well. What’s not to like? 5 stars all the way.

Fun story, and I love heist stories set in different genres. I don’t know why I didn’t love it, except maybe that there’s a lot of point of view characters (too many?) and the best ones (esp. Kaz) don’t change much. Still,  a fun book. May love the second one more.

NON-SPOILERS SECTION ⤵

☆Okay so this book is all about a great dangerous heist almost impossible. The main character of this amazing story is : The cold hearted and most feared gang leader in Katterdam ➡ Kaz Brecker
He is known for his ruthlessness and his deadly schemes .
Jan Van Eck a member of the Council comes to Brecker pleading his help .
A drug has been created by a man called Bo Yul-Bayur ( <-- I know strange name ) that's poisonous to human kind but powerful to Grishas . But , it does more than just amplify Grisha' powers they make them want for it , crave for it , they would do anything to get they're hands on the drug after tasting it . But afterwards just one dose of that baby and they'll become invincible . They could do things that are unimaginable , things that people would've never dreamt of .
Jan Van Eck wants Kaz Brecker to retrieve this man from the Ice Court , the most fortified and secured place that not even an insanely drunk person would suggest to wander in .
Kaz Brecker accepts with the reward of 30 million kruge if successful.
Kaz Brecker knew that to accomplish this he would need a team ;

-A convict with a thirst of revenge-
-A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager-
-A runaway with a privileged past-
-A spy known as the Wraith-
-And a Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums-
-And a thief with a gift for unlikely escapes-

This book has been sitting on my kindle for over two years. I have tried to read it so many times but I always got to the third chapter and gave up. This time, however, I made myself continue and I've very glad I did. I did struggle to get through it and sometimes nearly gave up just because I was so confused by all the names and things but I got through it and enjoyed the book very much! Although the ending was spectacular and I want to see where Kaz and Inej go and Matthias and Nina and Jesper and Wylan happen, I don't think I will be getting the second book immediately. For now I can live without it but I hope to read it in the future at some point!
