I received a complimentary copy of this book from Quirk Books (Random House). Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Since I am a massive fan of the movie "Mean Girls" and I can recite the story and many many quotes in my sleep, it was no surprise to me that I couldn't put his book down.
This play/novel/book (?) narrates the premise of "Mean Girl" as if it were written in 16th-17th century. As it is written entirely in the style of an Elizabethan/Shakespearean play (speckled with hidden quotes from actual plays by Shakespeare), hence it would be the perfect example to introduce students to Elizabethan English and how language has changed in the past 400 years. I could imagine myself taking parts of the book and analysing them with the students, as well as compare some sections with the movie.

I found some of the dialogue/monologue hilarious and since I read many of Shakespeare's plays during my time at uni, I actually found some of his characters and famous quotes in this book - which was actually confirmed in the end of the book with the "Author's note".
However, I would have preferred it, if more elements of the actual story were also adapted in Elizabethan style, since many more modern elements found its way into the story, which actually disturbed the historic feeling for me. I mean... imagine Regina getting hit not by school bus but rather a school carriage? Brilliant. But that's just me, it still was a great, very quick read and I will definitely try to use some extracts in my future classes.

Very cheeky, but not as good as Ian Doescher’s other Shakespearean makeovers of the Star Wars movies.

Received a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.

I love Mean Girls. This book combines the Elizabethan language with the Mean Girls script. A quick read that is sure to get teens into reading and understanding Elizabethan terms in an easier and fun manner.

So much fun! Especially when read aloud with friends!

I loved the movie Mean Girls and I also enjoyed Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare. So when I discovered there was a play combining the two I was so excited to see how this would play out.

Turns out it is actually the movie itself but with Shakespearean language, and that is why I did not have it a full five stars. I still enjoyed it though and it was fun to watch the movie again but in old English language.

I will definitely check his upcoming parody plays!!!!!

I really didn't expect much out of this, aside from a good laugh.
It wasn't bad, but it was a little weird to read.
I love Mean Girls. I love Shakespeare. But I didn't really love this.

I couldn't even finish this. It was just too weird. Maybe it'll be an easier read as a physical book and not on a kindle.

I am pretty sure I read it, but I can't be too sure because I loaned it to a friend and then his car exploded. He is fine. This book was not. Hot read.
