I love Bex's chaotic energy, and I laughed out loud at the antics and funny dialogue. Some people may not enjoy this one as much because it gets a little silly or unbelievable at times, but I thought it was very entertaining.

While I enjoyed most of this book, I will say I didn't enjoy the scene where
they are inside the enemy prison cell and have sex. It was a turn off for me when she's telling him she's angry and he just keeps pointing out that he can smell she's aroused. I wanted Bex to explain and teach him a lesson about how to treat her better after what he did.
Thankfully they do talk some things over later.

I really liked Dergoz in the beginning once we learned why he had been avoiding Bex. I thought he was pretty endearing, and I liked once they finally got to talking, especially in the tent. However, later in the book I got frustrated with him.

I would recommend this to fellow monster lovers and anyone who loves over the top characters. It wasn't my favorite in the series, but I'm looking forward to the next.

Book 3 in the "unknowingly wed to a bunch of aliens by my own government in desperate need of advanced alien technology to save humanity because only human women are fertile apparently" series was pretty good! Good story, funny, good character development, A+ alien cat.

I felt that Bex and Dergoz were much more balanced than Niki and Draz of book 1 and I was much more pleased with Bex as a character as a whole. I still feel like the whole human crew feels more like a college group of 20 something friends that went on a trip rather than a trained space military crew.

Anyway, Bex is a fellow monster romancer whose dreams come true being wedded to an alien - only he's not interested in her! It turns out the alien Dergoz is a long-term commitment kind of guy and Bex is a casual hookup kind of girl and they have to come clean about that and work it out. All of them working that stuff out with each other was great and handled well. Lots of great lines and scenes in that part of the plot.

There's a scene where Dergoz leaves Bex behind instead of treating her like the competent, able, skilled person she is and I was furious. Bex was also furious and Dergoz admittedly very regretful but I felt like she forgave him too easily and too quickly. I did appreciate how much she fought for herself though: “I might not be scaly, or finned, or eight feet tall, but I am good with a gun and I am great with tech. I am a military officer. I am trained. And I am capable. I will not let you sideline me just because you want to shove a kid inside me.” (p. 126). Kindle Edition.

I absolutely LOVE Horatio! I'm picturing a deadlier version of a vulpix. I also hadn't made the connection about each female character getting some kind of alien animal so I hope that continues as a trend. I was also happy to get an introduction to another alien species and a little peek into more about the Roth beyond just a vague violent, evil entity.

I'm looking forward to book 4 so I'll probably sound off on that one when it comes out in a month!
