2001: A Space Odyssey is my favorite movie ever. Nothing will ever change that. I love that Kubrick doesn't attempt to answer any of the big questions. The novel, however, does a real good job of explaining events in more detail. I think this makes for a good companion to the movie, especially if you find yourself needing answers to some of those questions.

This was a good, fast read. Doesn't suffer from it's age at all, which is impressive given the subject matter. The nice thing is, now I understand what the heck was going on in the movie, too. Always kind of wondered.

An interesting SF novel but the classics seem disappointing now with so much SF that has built on their foundations. I also think Roadside Picnic did a better job at using the mysterious technology as means to discuss the unfathomability of aluens.
