It took some time to get going, but midway through the book things really take off. It's sad, achingly so, to see Phoebe fall away from Will. Were I to write a paper, I'd be curious to explore further the parallels between Will and John Leal (both intent on saving Phoebe) and how Will replaces his devotion to Christ to that of Phoebe.

I had to stop. I bought this book on the premise it would be as complex as The Secret History. It is not even 1/25th of that complexity. I did and at 50% I am done

This was an interesting premise, but the narration style and split perspectives didn't quite work for me. The ending also petered out a bit, and I felt a bit underwhelmed.
