A 3.5 is VERY generous for this book, the premise is utterly ridiculous, the main character is awful, and the E2L and miscommunication tropes are arguably the top two most annoying kinds of tropes. Despite all that I actually liked this! The most ridiculous and worst part wasshe REALLY hated him, like thought he was going to actually murder her, and there was literally no reason for them to be together. The entire premise that whoever breaks off the engagement has to foot the bill is literally not even a thing. It feels so lazy. She is the worst partner I’ve ever read about, so unstable, so selfish, so childish, and I actually hate that he deserves better cause he sucked in the beginning too.

I love this book so much. This book I constantly come back to you even just her read a scene because it’s stuck in my head that day. Nicholas and Naomi‘s relationship is so unique and Sarah does an amazing job portraying it. I’m not normally a fan of second chance romances, but this book is different. It’s about learning how to be with someone and How to grow with them. The fact that they become a team by the end of the book just makes me smile every time. And also the shenanigans in between… Amazing. Something tells me I’ll be picking this book up again. Can’t wait to read more of Sarah‘s work.

4.5!
This book was a super fun start to the year. A cosy rom com, and yes, it's tropey but it still feels distinctive and enjoyable - the best kind of tropey. Definitely made me smile.

Reread: Yes!! The beginning was a little painful/immature but the rest is so so good.

The couple had nice chemistry, and they matched each other well, BUT I felt like the plot was stupid. Don't get me wrong, I get that they didn't want to get married even though they were engaged, etc.... but the reason for breaking their engagement is literally just because these 2 GROWN ADULTS couldn't get 2 words across!! Like how the hell do you get engaged to someone you "don't feel comfortable/ yourself " with?!?!? Also, throughout the whole book she was internally complaining while she had a smile on her face, then wondering how the hell he didn't know how she felt. HE IS NOT AFREAKING MINDREADER!! I literally wanted to scream at the main character to stop playing victim and act like the adult that she is for God's sake!

3.5⭐️
i enjoyed this book and it was a really quick, easy read! however i just absolutely despised naomi and how she treated nicholas was just down right mean and vindictive. nicholas did have some moments like that as well but even once he started trying to fix their relationship naomi was just so hurtful towards him. i’m giving it 3.5⭐️ tho because i adored them once they actually fixed their issues and re fell in love but i wish i would have gotten more of that then only 30-40 pages.

The ending of this book was sweet as sugar and made me miss winter and Christmastime like nothing else, but I do feel like there were some aspects of the beginning the book just kinda...forgot about? (Spoilers? Below)
First and foremost, the premise that whoever breaks off the engagement has to foot the bill is never...true? Like Naomi imagines it (and yes, I understand that Naomi is unreliable narrator) and then it is accepted as rock solid fact in the book. But since the stakes aren't an actuality, it made the whole book feel sillier and removed some of the sincerity.
There are also a whole lot of asshole-y things Nick does that are kind of glossed over at the end that he never apologizes for. Making her hang out with his friends on her birthday? Not doing /anything/ for their anniversary? And all the other little microaggressions at the beginning that I don't feel were explained away by him thinking Naomi was "absent" mentally.
Lastly, Justin the tree did not get the moment he deserved. Naomi clearly had a connection with this tree and that moment is really built up only for...nothing? To happen after Nick kills it. I feel like that should have been a turning point for all the buildup that Charlie Brown tree got, but instead it was a blip, just like every other "prank"
