5 ⭐️
I’ve been enjoying reading a lot of socio-political books atm and came across a recommendation for this, in light of all the recent wildfires. I really enjoyed how informative this was. The author not only touched on the climate disasters themselves, but the impact on communities of color and those that least contribute to climate change being impacted the most, oil companies, government, insurance companies, climate refugees, agriculture, etc. He also spoke on the climate refugees who are now unhoused but also those who were unhoused prior to climate disasters, in addition to disparity btwn those who can afford to move/rebuild as opposed to those who are trapped within the system. It was so insightful and such a timely piece.
Dare I say, required reading?? 📖 I created a new list, separate from my 5 ⭐️ list that are books that you should read, banned or otherwise that will inform you for these times. If you feel compelled to educate yourself, please read these books. They are so important and also my hope is for complacent individuals who don’t take any action and hide behind “rest is resistance”, meant for bipoc/people with disabilities, to one day do something. Reading is a wonderful place to start. It is not the end of action, but the beginning.
