Definitely my favorite non-fiction of the year. Unbelievably interesting, and I love how the author wove in individual stories with the greater message and research. It was interesting to hear the larger societal impacts of climate change and subsequent migration. I’d be interested to see if his predictions come true or if humans can get it together before then. (I doubt it)

A great introduction into the complicated world of disaster planning and recovery that takes a story-telling approach which makes a topic that could be dense much more approachable. Reminds me of the work I did in grad school, so it was a topic I already knew a good bit about.

This isn’t just about climate change, but also the role urban and suburban development, the insurance market, and disaster response all play.

As always with climate change literature there is a deep sense of dread. This novel highlights how climate change disproportionately affects marginalized and low socioeconomic communities in the United States. You might learn some new historical facts... or decide to purchase flood insurance.
