I enjoyed learning more about the actions taken by local and federal governments that got us into the mess of losing housing to climate change, but was also hoping for more on what is being/could be done to get us out. Unfortunately we either don’t seem to be doing much of anything or it wasn’t a particularly strong part of the book. It definitely highlights how complex a problem housing people in general can be, and adding in shifting water and fire on top of it creates chaos that seems to make homeowners suffer the most. I was waiting for the call to action or a hopeful moment in this book, but it wasn’t much. We have plenty of work to do.

While we may not want to, we have to start thinking about how we can prepare ourselves for climate migration. Very informative read.

This was a hell of a book to read while on an extended vacation that is largely fueled by “testing out” living in a city that we’re considering moving to in part because of climate migration.

This is an engaging collection of case studies that provide damning insight into the climate disaster and the U.S. housing market. I’d consider this one of my non-fiction must-reads so far this year.

A good look at climate migration and what trends are emerging as areas undergo climate transformation. I found a lot of the personal stories really sad, and it made me think about how people talk about the weather. We are experiencing climate shifts wherever we live and some people are on the front lines in areas experiencing extreme flooding, heat, and fires.

It's interesting to co-read this or bookend a reading with The Secret Life of Groceries by Benjamin Lorr. I'm about 1/3 of the way through this other book and already I can make connections between the economics of our shipping economy and some of the effects on our climate. Others are of course the result of colonialism and segregated housing practices.
