Lilith Vincent is well known for her dark/mafia romance books and everything I have read has been 5 star reads.
The Flame Kings Captive is the first book by Lilith writing as Chloe Chastaine and her first fantasy romance.
I won’t deny I went in with high hopes.
The beginning started well with action right from the start, but then it petered out and was just OK…
It had so much potential but didn’t follow through. I think I would have enjoyed this more if the book was around 350 pages rather than 468 (kindle version) and if the chapters were shorter. There were a lot of looooong chapters where nothing really happened. I’m a reader who when busy will think “one more chapter” but when a chapter is 20-30 minutes long, it became too easy to put the book aside.
I wanted more plot with the romance as the subplot but I got 51% in and was still wondering what the actual plot was.
There was too much repetition, (Isavelle wandering the castle asking the refugees coming in if they had seen people from Amriste, where she is from and her inner dialogue).
I will continue to read the series with hopes it gets better.

I had SO much fun reading this book and am very happy it was my first official Omegaverse read. Whenever it mentioned a specific Omegaverse term, it also provided a little explanation which was super helpful to me as a newbie to the genre!
The tension and spice in this book was giving me everything I needed! We LOVE a hot Alpha who is dominant and protective while also patient and understanding. Zabriel would do ANYTHING for his Omega Isavelle and I’m here for the worshipping of women.❤️

Bad writing. Bad plot. Bad everything.
