What a book! I didn’t even realize I reached the end and that cliffhanger!!

Honestly I wasn’t expecting much from this book and my expectations were mid, but it completely blew me away. The character development was also really well-paced, especially for Isavelle and her acceptance to her designation and role in the world. I didn’t find her irritating at all and the fact that she learnt to grow into her role as a Queen made it all the better.

Mal on the other hand, is an absolute gentleman with his never-ending patience and loyalty to his kingdom and his Queen. I loved how he took it slow with Isavelle both in the physical way and emotional way. I’m also loving how the plot doesn’t take too much to understand and that new events tie into the plot line.

I’m ready for the second book and I can’t wait to read more about their world and especially the progress to their relationship, especially when it was getting to the good part towards the end.

Isavelle is about to be sacrificed on the funeral pyre of the dead king by the religious zealots who run Maledin.

Until the invaders arrive on their dragons to stop it!

Now, Isavelle is captive of Zabriel, the Flame King. He insists she is something called an Omega and his mate. As her Alpha, they have been destined for one another.

I loved this take on the Omegaverse. Isavelle is realistically confused by the shift in her circumstances and fights low self-esteem. Zabriel comes off as your typical overbearing Alphahole until he and Isavelle spend more time together. He gets comfortable and lets his guard down.
He is, get this, ✨️ inexperienced ✨️
and together, they under through her emergence as an Omega.

My favorite part is Zabriel's inexperience leads him to make mistakes where Isavelle is concerned.
He admits to messing up and apologizes to her for it. Not something I usually run across in Omegaverse novels. He also has a funny relationship with his dragon, Scourge.

⭐️Overall rating: 4/5

I'm already on Book 2: Bride of the Flame King.
