Oh my stars, hell and Dragon’s blood! What a wild and fantastical new world has been created in this epic fantasy. This story is set in a world coming to terms with the reemergence of the rightful king of Maledin, and its other citizens who have suffered 500 years of banishment under a mountain after a dark power forced them into a state of purgatory.
Designations will begin to make themselves known once again, and Alphas/Betas/Omegas alike will have to learn to live as they were always meant to.
At the helm of New Maledin is Zabriel, the heir returning to sit on his throne. He quite literally stumbles upon his Mate, and embarks on a mission of equal importance: claiming her heart…as well as her submission.
Zabriel is in a league of his own, as I’ve never been more entertained or enthralled by an alpha. This could be attributed to the fact that he is not only a strapping hulk of a king, but he has a dark brooding Dragon to do his bidding as well!
Yes. Please.
At first glance, Isavelle isn’t the typical Omega FMC, and I loved her all the more for her uniqueness. She’s curious, and tough. Kind and generous. I really enjoyed watching her fall in love with her destined role as an Omega, a Queen and a Dragonrider in her own right.

There’s so much tension, angst and sexual chemistry between these two, and the author has quite literally EDGED us for the entire freaking book! I loved it.

That being said, the cliffhanger wasn’t nice!

I enjoyed aspects of this. I’m always a sucker for an omegaverse and this had some interesting elements of dragons and magic. I felt the characters were a bit one note, neither Zabriel or Isavelle were compelling for me. I didn’t fall in love with them or their relationship.

Omg that ending! This book was so fun to read, I mean there are some darker elements here too but the enjoyment I had while reading this book was awesome.
I tend to avoid some fantasy because I dont always have the mental space for the huge world build, this book was perfect, the world was mostly based in a sort of "old world" earth/human setting but with 7ft tall dragonrider hunks, beautiful dragons and wyverns and non shifting A/B/O. Heats, knots, fated mates. Jealous and very possesive mate who is soft and paitent for his mate.

The flame King's captive was an awesome first instalment of the new trilogy by Lilith Vincent under her new pen name. Ive loved all her books so far and I can feel this series will be just as good.

Raised as humans and controlled by the Brethren the maledinni people designations lay dormant and unknown (A/B/O), there have always been stories of the dragonriders who are trapped beneath the mountains. When they are mysteriously released from beneath the mountains and dragons take to the skies and fight to reclaim their land the stories become reality.
Zabriel finds Isavelle within the first chapters and the story really starts off with a bang. It was exciting and full of twists and turns, some that where easy to see and others that I didnt.

Slight spoiler ahead... but I left out details.

I did love that she was even more unique than just a rare omega. I LOVE a special and useful woman who came from thinking she was worthless or never good enough who then rises up to be a badass.

TW: parental and sibling death. Mention of rape (not main MC). Violence/ death. Religion used to control, abuse and enslave.

The FMC was a little annoying... but I guess if your society is oppressed by religious zealots, you would be a little messed up. I didn't love how slowww the burn was. Like by the 70-80% mark they are both all-in yet the spice was not spicing. The best part of the book was the dragons and the bonds they form with the characters. That is why we give this one 3☆ and not 2.5☆ /shrugs.
