Book #2 comes out June 21, 2024
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Stars
Even though this book was slow burn and over 500 pages, I gobbled it up in a day. Not only was all my kinks checked off, but I also really enjoyed the world building going on. There were, however, issues that made me take 1.5 stars away.
The Good:
The author warned us that MMC Zabriel would be a possessive, jealous alpahole. Like others have stated in their reviews, we instead received a sweet-as-candy Alpha who wholeheartedly loves and treasures FMC Isavelle. This man was so patient and understanding, never pushing Isavelle for more than she was willing to give. And if he did? He owned up to his mistakes and would do better by her next time. Some people might not be happy with this MMC. Me? I love him completely.🩷
Speaking of which, this man was filthy. Lots of "Good girls" for those who like Praise Kink like me. I know some people aren't happy that the spice takes place later in the book, but I believe it made sense plot-wise. Zabriel is the King in the middle of a war with a reluctant mate. There isn't a lot of time to get down in dirty in the grand scheme of things. To make up for the lack of spice, wow. When it was included, it was detailed and dirty. Made my face turn so red, I had to take a break, lol. And the aftercare? *chef's kiss*🫠🌶🔥
The world building and overall plot was a mix for me. I loved the setting of the story and the culture of the Maledinni people. It was interesting to see their customs and how they are all heavily intertwined with dragons. Dragons are really cool. My monkey brain really loved any part that centered around the dragons.
The Bad:
As I stated above, I loved the worldbuilding, but the plot left much to be desired. It was soooooo slow-going. Which is literally not great, considering the romance is a slow burn. What I was hoping (and expecting) was for the book to be a romance but with a heavy, action-packed plot that made it so the MMC and FMC would have to put their relationship aside in order to face the conflict. What I got was an interesting beginning, slow middle, and slow end that only picks up the last few pages so the author can leave us in a cliffhanger.
I suspect the author wanted to keep this book more focused on building Isavelle's and Zabriel's bond, but it fell flat to me. Isavelle was in heavy denial throughout the entire book of her designation as an Omega, along with her future role of being Queen. I tolerated it at first, considering she had experienced so much trauma along with her believing she was human her entire life. But by 50%, she was still fighting back against everything, including Zabriel. She was wishy-washy towards the poor man; one minute loving his attention and the next, running off and crying. Zabriel really was a saint for his patience. 🙏🙌
Overall, would I recommend this book? Yeah, defiantly. I can be critical, but I won't lie and say I didn't like reading this book. I really hope this was just slow to begin, and the next book will be more action filled. I am also excited to see if Isavelle will step more into her role as a heroine and future Queen. 🐥💖

the pain in which i realized i was at the end oooo this sequel needs to be here already, i can’t, the political intrigue and mystery is so enticing i just need more of it
I would like if the author didnt write in such a sexist way, like why does isavelle "need" to be by his side, and why is she not a good mate if she does not want to, its like saying that a woman is not a good wife because she doesnt cook 24/7, its bullshit. ugh these villiagers are getting on my nerves and Isavella too. I was really looking forward to reading this book, and now that i read it, i can say i dont like it. I can only connect with Esmeral. Does she have no identity besides the kings mate? Jeez she belongs to herself. I will not be continuing the series.
there wasn’t much plot but there sure was a lot of tension. i love how much he wanted to take care of her and protect her. i wish there was more on the dragons. i think we got some towards the last section but i feel like that should’ve been a bigger part. now i gotta wait until june of next year. hopefully i’ll still be interested…
