I was so excited for this one, the blurb sounded sooo good, the world building and the history was there but for me it just feel a little flat.
The FMC is new to the world of dragons, alphas and omegas and the MMC is possessive and demands to be the one to explain it to her but doesn’t really! Although I liked how patient and kind he was to her, there was just something missing for me.
The twist was kinda predictable, which I’m okay with as long as I’m curious and love the characters, but I didn’t feel a connection to either of them.
Loved the dragons.

Overall it was okay!

I would like to begin by thanking the author for providing an e-ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

My actual rating is much closer to a 4.25.

This was my very first Omegaverse book ever and I can say wholeheartedly that I had a freaking amazing time. I decided to give this a try after seeing the tropes from the author on instagram and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.I was honestly so shocked by how invested I was and how much I genuinely adored it as a whole. In my personal opinion, I think this was a perfect starter book for those wishing to dip their toes into the genre.

This book has everything that I enjoy in a fantasy book. Some of the tropes include fated mates, DRAGONS, magic, touch her and die, slow burn romance, in addition to the Alpha-Omega dynamics. The pacing was nice and I was able to have my attention captivated from beginning to end.

Isavelle is an incredibly sweet, naive , and abused young woman, but despite all of that she has this flare of resistance in her. She has been raised in a cult like community that has dedicated how she should behave and think as a woman. Isavelle has attempted to find ways to let who she is see the surface; however, men in power have chosen to literally beat her into a shell of her brilliant self. When she is rescued by the mysterious Zabriel and his dragon, she is finally given the opportunity to gradually shed all of the suppression that she has been forced to endure. Isavelle begins to slowly but surely step into who she is meant to be and I cannot wait to see her reach her epic potential in the books to come.

Zabriel is the Alpha flame king who has finally awoken after centuries of imprisonment and is utterly at a loss for what to do when he lays eyes on the mate that he has desperately yearned for his entire existence. I've heard from other friends who are into omega verse books that alpha's tend to be possessive, controlling, and dominant with their love interests. Zabriel is some of those things due to his nature, but I fell in love with how incredibly flipping sweet he was with Isavelle every step of the way. There were times when his alpha nature wanted for nothing more than to have his mate be submissive and to claim her, but he smothered all of those thoughts for Isavelle's benefit alone. As a result of his kindness, understanding, and patience with Isavelle's healing journey, he was able to build their relationship based on trust. One of my absolute favorite things about his character is how good Zabriel was at healthy communication of his emotions.

The romance in this is a slow burn, but that is not to say there wasn't sufficient flirtation and steam. The things that Zabriel would say and insinuate to Isavelle had me blushing just as hard as her. I honestly loved their entire dynamic so much and find them so incredibly precious. They embody everything that I love about the fated mates trope. Isavelle and Zabriel made me wish for a mate of my own at several points in the story. That's how adorable they were !!!!!

THE DRAGONSSSSSSSSSS ! They have always been an absolute weakness of mine and so it was one of the primary reasons why I was excited to read this. The bonds that the riders have with their dragons is so deep and the lengths that they are willing to go for each other warms my heart. I love what the author did with Esmeral and her mate. Every time that they were on the page, I never failed to squeal and become even more excited. On a related note, the author did a good job with world building. The peeks that we have gotten into the Maleddini dragon culture, customs, language, and overall way of life was so fascinating.

I will admit that I lost sleep over the ending. My anxiety on the potential misery and pain our two precious MCs could suffer in the next book, made sleep evade me almost all night.
Spoiler The fact that she is in the hands of this insane evil man who has a reputation for raping and marking women that are not his, is causing me to break out in hives. I hope that Isabelle will not be held captive long and that Zabriel can get to her in time before anything even more atrocious goes on. Poor Isavelle has gone through ENOUGH. I just want them reunited and happy
I am invested to say the least and cannot wait to see what is in store in the following books to come.

I really liked the book, very well written!

I started reading already knowing that it was going to be slow burn, but oh my god does it take a long time, to have an idea, Isavella only begins to accept the omega side around 70% of the book, and it is in this part that she begins to be more "proactive" in her relationship with Zabriel.

What made me insanely frustrated is the reluctance to accept Zabriel, look, I understand that she was betrayed and tortured by men so she has lack of trust with them, but even when Zabriel CONTINUOUSLY shows his purest intentions to Isavelle she continues to treat him as a nuisance or her jailer. And don't even make me start talking about the mistreatment she did against Esmeral, the cute dragon suffered because Isavelle can't see what's in front of her. I understand that she wanted to have choices and such, but there are things that are more important than that like: LIVING, when she leaves the castle she is attacked by the priests there, and when Zabriel forbids her to leave the castle again the girl gets angry ???? DO YOU WANT TO DIE???

Zabriel deserves someone better and I volunteer to be that someone. (And i’m so done with Isavelle)

This was great. Though I will say it falls very specifically into tropes and aspects that I love in my books. If I had a complaint, it would be that it was a bit long. The will they won't they section lasted a little too long for me. But overall, I really enjoyed it and am really looking forward to the next book.

I love an omegaverse, but this seems like a first draft. The plot is there. It is an intriguing one too, but the delivery fell short for me. I honestly wish there was more background for the Dragons and Dragonriders than romance. Their moments were sweet, but honestly I was more intrigued in the war between the Shadow King and Flame King.
