I adore this book. The heat and desire is absolutely THRILLING! One of the main subjects is healing from the destruction brought by purity culture and I am here for it! The heat and lust is fantastic!
This book is a fun mix of non-shifting omegaverse and fantasy with DRAGONS! The dragons also have the secondary traits of A/B/O which is really fun.

Underwhelming, drawn out, the mmc loses all personality
The Flame King’s Captive had a play on the omegaverse that I hadn’t quite seen yet. Essentially, the designations have gone dormant while the Maledin people and their dragons have been buried under the mountain for the past 500 years. Once they re-emerge, the humans with Maledin blood start to evolve as alphas, betas, and omegas. And the Maledin King? He knows immediately that Isavelle is his omega, even though she doesn’t quite agree.
The Flame King’s Captive is an intense slow burn, but it fits the story. Zabriel gives Isa time to learn what’s happening; to truly earn her trust and affection. And Isa has been abused and traumatized from her time as a captive of the cult-like Brethren, so she’s got some issues to work through. I empathized with Isa; she keeps getting told that being an omega means she’s weaker, the bottom of the pack—I’d rebel from that too.
I really loved Zabriel and Isavelle together; you could truly see the care and affection they had for each other as their relationship grew and progressed. And their dragons too!
The cliffhanger at the end nearly stopped my heart. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

this book was a fever dream because genuinely what was happening?? the fmc was annoying and the mmc was so cringe. the plot and pacing was all over the place
The male lead is so KIND to her. He’s so freaking sweet and considerate, I love him.
