Funny book by a British expat living in Paris. Amusing observations about Parisian work, social life and culture. I found it a bit foreign to say the least as I don't know any French, but it was pretty funny reading how the French pronounced English words ... iz vary entrazing ...

Brit Paul West is hired by a French firm to develop an authentic English tea house chain. He moves to Paris and finds himself almost immediately struggling to fit in to to the City of Lights. Author Stephan Clark has created a laugh out loud piece of fiction that is so worth reading.
funny lighthearted fast-paced

Lots of fun

Hmmm... can I award zero stars? Oh! Yes! Yes I can. And I do. Got through an hour on the audiobook, and pulled the earplugs. Totally unamusing, nothing even remotely interesting to make me want to continue. I agree with all the one and less star reviewers. Awful.

SUPER funny and entertaining!

This was entertaining - not brilliant, but fun. I can understand some of the reviews of the book which claim the story is very sexist; most of the women in the book are portrayed as quite promiscuous, selfish, and careless. But I took that more as a condemnation of the main character and his own very loose morals (including in business), and saw those women as the type he sought out, not as a representation of French women in general. Likewise, I saw his Francophobia not as a statement on the French, but on the stereotypical animosity between French and English.

Of course, I could be wrong - perhaps the author really does view the French and French women the way the main character did. I hope not. But reading it from the perspective I did, I found it fun and amusing.

Very funny book, touching on many UK/France issues, history, etc. Definatly a book for adults.

full of witty observations, and even has an interesting plot!

Funny and entertaining at the start got a bit dull at the end but nice summery read

I only gave it that 4th star because it made me laugh ^^
Reread... its glaringly obvious that this book was written in 2006, 2 stars
