I wasn't ever a single Brit in Paris, so some of it doesn't apply to me. But the rest of it sure does. I think this book would come off as very cynical to those who have never lived there, but there's a reason why Paul/Stephen stayed in Paris too.
Lots of LOL moments, would highly recommend to anyone who has ever spent any time in the merde.

Half enjoyed this after all. He was just writing from a young horny guy's perspective, which I've grown tired of at this point.
Since I'm going to Paris, a friend gave me this book to balance out the romance of the city with the reality this author experienced while working for a French company. Although I did learn some things like watch out for shit on the sidewalks, beware of flirty men, and order un demi instead of a beer so you only get a small glass, I think this story was more suitable for male readers. Much of his quest was to get laid. But there were funny passages, and I did finish it, and I will recall some of his "tips" when I'm over there. This romantic woman prefers a different look at Paris than what was portrayed here. Still, guys, you should check it out. You may get laid.
his commentary is hilarious. this book was a good read, but i'm not sure i would care to read his others.
One of few books I just couldn't finish. Not at all about culture or anything interesting. The author hates France and is very immature, as if we care about his sex life. I made it to page 108, but my heart wasn't in it.
I was wondering at times whether the events were real or not, very convincing. Easy read. There was a lot of emphasis on sexual jokes and content. All in all funny. I don't know whether I'm going to read any more books of the series
Pretty funny but it got a little ridiculous toward the end. The French strike a lot, but it was a bit absurd to have a fresh strike be highlighted in each chapter/month and coincide with other events to make him particularly miserable (e.g. Electricity strike at the country house and pharmacy strike when he gets a cold) overall it was funny and a light read though.
