ok the voice acting (specifically Harry in the fall)… i was blown away actually. Definitely a fun, messed up story. not my usual fare (one of the main characters is a war vet and there’s a lot about that it’s kind of actually a main plot point) but I actually liked the way it was handled eventually. also Joe.. slay.

An original , thrilling  and compelling story. Loved the characters, loved the build-up and, although a bit predictable, I also loved the ending!

A slow paced, but good read. Some parts could have been omitted and I wasn’t as drawn to the 2 main characters as I was to the other side characters, Dash, Dan, and Lucy. This book has me wanting a Golden Retriever x 10s more now! The ending also felt a little disappointing and I was waiting for some big reveal other than
”deal with your shit and the ghosts may go away.”
But the spirits were unique and creepy.  The setting was nicely written and I genuinely cared what happened to these characters.

I loved this book. It was unique and full of the unexpected. After reading a few chapters, I couldn't put it down. Initially, I was put off by the first chapter being about Harry's ptsd and military years, which is not something I would normally choose to read about. That does remain part of the story, but more as a part of who the character is instead of the entire plot. Highly recommend if you like horror/thrillers.

Thank you to the publishers for this book that I won in a Goodreads giveaway.

like 10 pages of interesting scenes in a 300 page book. found the characters annoying and the dialogue felt like it was written by an AI. the idea is cool but most of the book feels like padding

could've been a 4 if the couple's main goal in life WASN'T to have kids & raise them in this house in the middle of nowhere but contemplating it only because of these spirits they have to fight every season.

also wouldve been way better (and shorter) as one combined POV instead of getting loads of information twice.

Creepily unique.

Harry and Sasha move to their forever home and get everything that comes with it, the good and the bad. I wanted to absolutely love this one; a malevolent spirit that manifests in different ways depending on the season, just yes. This part of the story I did love, it was unique to have this type of story line. I felt it was atmospheric and definitely held the creep factor.

I think it could have been SO much better, not expanding on Joe and the Native American aspect was disappointing! We could have focused on that instead of Harry's Marine days. There were several plot holes and things that just go unfinished. I'm super annoyed we don't find out what happens with a specific character.

I do think if you enjoy horror you will enjoy it. It was good, could have been great, but it was good.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Novel Suspects for sending me a gifted copy for review.

This was a very easy read. I was so invested in the things happening on their land. The authors did really well with the characters, I found my self caring what happened to them. Dash the golden retriever especially. At no point did I get confused on what was going on. Although at some points the story was slow I still felt compelled to pick the book up. The only other complaint I have is that it wasn’t more scary. It was a slow burn horror and a lot of character development. Not as much of the story focused on the horror aspect as I wished it did but other than that I was really surprised by how much I like this story.
