Sarah really had the power to make us hate almost every character we loved and she did...although I'm glad for that because it brings up a light to a lot of things that should be discussed more (at least I think so). I loved every little thing about the inner circle and it made me value their friendship so much :) and the character development of Rhys chefs kiss

Idk if anything this book put me through a hell of a ride at this emocional roller coaster and I'm here for it! it reminded me of what I loved so much about books (especially fantasy books) when I was younger... the time i loved reading so much that I would literally eat them up, reading nonstop until finished and sort of threaten my family's wallet every time we passed a library lol

it may not be the best book out there but it has captured a piece of my heart and I will treasure it. it made me laugh, feel love and hatred and sadness... and god I SWEAR sometimes I LAUGHTED MY FUCKING MIND OFF i don't even know why

I want to kill Tamlin and Lucien so bad AGH, also Rhys is a baby don't ever touch him, thanks Feyre for FINALLY grabbing a grasp of herself...

I reeeally liked this book, more than the first one tbh. What I like the most is the gradual expansion in the world-building, it kept me intrigued the whole way through, and also the depicton of trauma and depression, I find that in some fantasy books the MCs go though some really shoking scenes and then just go about their day as normal, and tha fact that you can see how the characters here are impacted and deteriorated, subtly first, is really refreshing.
Now to spoilers:
Things I liked:
The way Feyre slowly starts to notice the abuse she went through, how Tamlin is a thret in the background in a way you almost forget about him at times until the end and then just uff... the BETAYAL! Just Mor in general <3 and also Nesta <3

Things I didn't like:
I'm nor really a fan of the whole mate thing, between Rhys and Feyre is fine I guess, I just don't like the thought of Rhys loving her even before she really knew her, but the relization of Lucien and Elain I wasn't a fan of, I feel like it's just way too convinient for the plot. Also I can't really get completly behind the relationship between Rhys and Feyre because of what he did to her in the first book, he drug her and used her and I'm not sure the author is really seeing how problematic that is, because it is brushed aside really fast in this book and idk, it makes me a bit uncomfortable... and just kind of as a pet peeve: once Feyre knows they're mates she refers to Rhys as "my mate" way too often and it just gets repetitive

This was much more fun than the last book! Yes to the PTSD, all the trauma processing! Yes to the change of villains in the story! Great main couple, where he wants her to be free and strong yet they can both be vulnerable and playful with each other.

However, my least favourite parts of the SJM-EU are very present.
I love a soulmates AU, but does it have to be "the female feeding the male accepts the bond"!? I adore Feyre rescuing Rhys. But I get so tired of how, even in the We Are All Powerful universe that women are "breeding mares" and objects. It makes me so upset that it takes me out of the story. I like fantasy to escape reality, I don't want it to remind me I am a worthless object all the time. Every story can't be the Handmaid's Tale.

Changing up who the damsel is works well in this story. And I am happy there are finally female friends for Feyre to talk to! Still think Nesta is still more tell than show when it comes to how "awful" she is. Sounds more like she was a grumpy teenager for a while - and by that logic we are all awful. She just seems protective and guarded?

"Am I expected to bear your offspring?" made me go ewwwwwwww.

Writing style kills me.  "The wolves were faster. I was faster." "He wanted to protect the city. Protect me". " Together - together we'd find our peace, our future. Together". Drives me up the wall. I swear with good editing this could be a great streamlined 350 page book. As a good 20% is repetition of words in the same bloody sentence.

This book, oh my god this book.  Where do I even begin?

I loved the characters: Rhysand, Morrigan, Cassian and Azriel, as well as Amren, Tarquin and the list goes on. Everyone worked well off one another, even the characters we only see briefly.

The fact Tamlin was crushing Feyre and caging her hurt my heart, because I really like Tamlin. Yet Rhys' assurance that she is safe and free to do what she pleases really surprised me.  He never pressured her, always patient and understanding.

When he confesses they are mates, and they actually talk it through properly, my heart hurt. Hearing him describe her trial, how it felt to watch her die was heartwrenching. Yet he does not hide from her, he lets her embrace him as who he is in his entirety.

The bit about the tattoos of the mountains on his knees signifying that he kneels to no one, but he does to her was just *chef's kiss* honestly.

I lost my mind when Tamlin betrayed her sisters in order to get her back in his possession, to the point I was cursing him.  When Nesta pointed her finger at the King with a deadly promise, I sincerely hope she gets to have it.

Elain's cries broke my heart, yet knowing Lucien of all men was her mate wad both a blessing and a curse. He is Tamlin's right hand man, which puts him in a difficult position. Yet he is a soft hearted man, and I know he would do absolutely everything in his power to ensure she is happy, even to his own detriment.

The clever way Rhys and Feyre were able to trick both the king and Tamlin into thinking they won was brilliant.  I can't wait to see what Feyre is about to get up to now that she is more a spy than a prisoner.

This book was absolutely riveting, and I couldn't put it down for very long before the itch to continue stirred.  It weaves so much beautiful lore and characters in such wonderful ways that you feel you're engaging with the story as much as you are reading it.
