This was really good, I liked the world and the characters. I feel like the way it was written was hard to follow at times, both in the descriptions and in the dialogue. The enemies to lovers is not something I’ve read a lot of but this was really enjoyable. Not sure that Vane added much to the story, I felt like that could have been developed a bit more.

4/5 ⭐️ I ended up liking it more than I thought I would when I started. The characters were not good people. Some parts were confusing and not explained well, but in the end it was a quick spicy read.

Mildred is a half mortal, half fae princess. She is betrothed from a young age to the Seelie prince. They hate each other. Every time they get together over the years it is proven- from poisonous snakes in her carriage to her poising his wine. I found those chapters entertaining. She was a clever teenager. I love how she challenged him despite her fear. Eventually it’s time for their wedding and she goes to the Seelie kingdom to live. Politics and a war postpone it. Throw in a kidnapping, an Unseelie king, murders, and you get some twists. I love that this was a standalone. I felt like it wrapped up nicely and didn’t need anymore books for this to be a good book.
