I can't say I can personally recommend this. I absolutely despised one of the stories, it almost made me rage quit Joe Hill forever. The other three were ranged from "meh" to alright. Debated between 1 and 2 stars, going with 2 because I did finish it in the end, so it must have had something going for it.

Not terrible, but mostly a bit depressing stories. Some of the writing was a bit cheesy/trite as well. I'd give another Joe Hill book a go, maybe, but this one just wasn't a good night read for me.

I loved "Snapshot". I thought it was very true to Joe Hill's typical horror writing which is why I enjoyed it so much. As for "Aloft" and "Loaded", I still enjoyed them but they both kind of strayed from what I like about Joe Hill. I love weird stories but I think, "Aloft" was a little too weird for me. As entertaining as it was, I didn't really care for the main character until the end and even then...meh.

I loved, "Rain" the most. He definitely saved the best for last in my opinion. I loved the protagonist so much. Despite what she goes through she still keeps her humor which is kind of the theme throughout the whole story. I liked that it was dark but kept a twisted sense of humor throughout. Even the villains were admirable in a way. I think it could have ended a little better but I still won't complain too much about it. This was still one of, if not the best short story I have ever read. Well, okay, it's a "novella" but whatever.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It is the perfect compilation of stories for those who like horror and the strange.

There's something seriously wrong with the King family these past few years.

4 novellas; Snapshot is boring, Loaded is ridiculous, Aloft is huh? and Rain is mmmkay then.

These stories should've stayed in his notebook and never seen the light of day!

the more I read this author the more I love his stories... a perfect mix of post appocaplyse, fantasy, science fi and triller.

There was one story in this that I really liked. But the other three I not only didn't like, but actively disliked. I had a hard time seeing where the social commentary ended and the author's real point of view started. It went too far at times and needs to be more simple to be more effective.

What a moving, powerful collection of novellas. Hill continues to impress.
