My buddy John recommended this book to me a while back. I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner, and I will always respect anything he recommends to me. This book is brutal. Not exactly in an extreme horror way, but there are splashes of extreme, yet at the same time the author is pulling on your heartstrings. Nothing but serial killers. This universe of bad guys was mostly new to me. I think I've read one or two of the Jack Daniels series. That was fine since it's not necessary to have read any other books prior to this one. I loved how there was an index referring to the other books you could read to find out about a particular killer/ character.
I read another book once where many serial killers crossed paths, and I kinda thought it was just a tad unbelievable. I didn't feel that way with this book, I guess because it's so well written.
This book is awesome. There's no other way to say it. In the preface the author let's us know that it's the length of two full novels. The way I was quickly devouring pages, it felt much shorter.
If you've read this review, do yourself a favor. Go and read this book now

Some good, some meh. I enjoyed all the easter eggs and little hints at other storylines and characters, but you can only read the same thing so many times before it gets boring.

Dang! This took me FOREVER to read, and I'm sad about that. I worked on the books leading up to this huge culmination for a better part of the summer and fall. 3.5 stars. I thought it was going to blow my socks off, but it didn't. Don't get me wrong, it was really good, but it wasn't a stunner. I really enjoyed how all of these crazy characters were intertwined, and how you got to see the back story of what was going on behind the scenes of the books that came before. But it was a smidge hard to follow at times. And I'm still mad at myself for reading "Stirred" first, before SKU. I totally threw a wrench into my love of chronological order!!!

Eh. I wasn't sure what to make of this one. I wanted a short read before bed, so I tried it.

Didn't love it, hated it slightly. Not too gory for me just a jumbled mess I think. I dunno.

I was drawn to this book because of the comments and content. I like gore murder stuff like this. I wasn't as disturbed as I expected to be by the killers except for a couple scenes. This wasn't a bad thing, as I said, this is what I enjoy reading. This book is a combination of several serial killers by a couple authors, well worth the read and I'll be getting the other books too. Highly recommend.

Serial Killers Uncut is a hard book for me to review...

This is the first book I've read in the Serial Killer series and it probably won't be my last. I found myself quickly picking up on each character and felt that Crouch and Konrath provided enough background, that I didn't feel lost. The thought process that went into these stories is quite remarkable. The stories were creative, while still disturbing and the stories and writing styles flowed smoothly throughout the book. However, there are some tough scenes in this book. For someone who always thought they had a strong stomach, even I found myself getting queasy at times.

I also questioned not only my sanity but the sanity of the authors, while reading Serial Killers Uncut. As a reader, I sometimes wonder why there is such an infatuation surrounding serial killers. I, personally, find them to be interesting and I am a true crime junkie. While Serial Killers Uncut is about fictional killers, the physical and psychological torture that went on throughout this book, was more detailed than any book I have ever read before. As for the writers of this book, Blake Crouch and J.A. Konrath, I feel that they had to go to a very dark place in their minds, to write these types of books. Writing and reading about serial killers and the graphic details that go with their stories is not for the faint of heart.

As I mentioned above, Serial Killers Uncut had some very graphical, dark, and twisted parts to it. Like many, who have reviewed this book before me, it is not for all. I would only recommend this book to those that can handle in-depth details of torture, rape, and brutality.
