Sort of a Four-Hour Work Week for women. Sort of. Shipman and Kay discuss the need for life balance and how career women can use their talents and positions to make it happen.

That's all fine and good, but I'd like to see men do it too, and not just direct it at women. I know, I know, and the authors address this too, but that's just my opinion.

And, this is all fine and good for upper middle class or wealthy women with advanced degrees, husbands, nannies, and six-figure jobs. This has ZERO application and meaning to the vast majority of working women.

I wanted to read this since I enjoyed The Confidence Code, but sadly I feel that this information is just a bit dated. Not that it isn't valuable - far from it; there are still many women (and men) out there in the world of work trying to balance it all. I think we need to find new solutions, though, and that's OK. Nonfiction is always going to be a changing tide. Shipman and Kay mostly cover flexibility and how to get it, and how to find a work-life balance without upsetting the boss and maybe not having to take much of a pay cut. I definitely thought The Confidence Code was more relevant to today, but I do admire these authors and their contributions to society.
